Went down to breakfast on our first full day in Italy.
The breakfast spread was wonderful. Meats, cheeses, breads, fruit, muesli (Eric's fav), and, oh yes, Itialian coffee-made to order.
Being a coffee hound, Sue first ordered a coffee; drank all but 1/2 cup which Eric drank. Because Sue was SUFFERING BIG TIME from jet lag and because she wanted to experience the Italian way of doing things, Sue ordered a caffe latte.
The coffee comes separate from the latte here; you mix them together yourself. Not being a latte drinker, Sue pushed forward and drank just the extra strong coffee. It was smooth and dark and yummy. Tasted soooooooo good. Then, off we headed for Villa Balbinello for the grand tour. Half way up the 1km hike to the entrance, things began to go wrong. Sue started getting light headed, sweats, nausea. Back to the hotel. Diagnosis: caffeine overdose! Drink lots of fluid (no caffeine), rest. Caffeine's half life is 4-6 hours. Sue was wiped out for the rest of the day. The rest of a story is a marital secret which Sue thinks you can all appreciate......
The moral of the story...all things in moderation, even if they are REALLY good!
