Monday, 10/2/2017, Travel Day to Turin

Monday October 2nd

Today was a travel day.  A private driver took us from Lenno to the train station in Como.  Other than the "usual Italian driving" this was uneventful.  We took an intercity train from Como to the very busy train station in Milan.  This train station is so busy you really need to be on alert for pick pockets.

We left Milan on a high speed train to Turin with speeds up to 300 km/hr which is 186 mph!  Quite a nice ride.  We then hoofed it to our hotel, the Grand Hotel Sitea.  Beautiful Hotel (see link).  Once there they gave us a free upgrade to very, very nice suite.

We settled in and did some laundry by hand. Mostly we relaxed for the evening to get ready to get out and about the next day.   We did manage to get out for a bit to the Piazza San Carlo after Carlo Alberto who is one of the beloved historical figures in Italy related to independence and the beginning of the republic.
