We took off on foot to explore Turin. Found our way to several large piazzas and the River Po. Walked along the River and then over to the other side of the city.
On the way back to the hotel we found a small hole in the wall osteria (Osteria Del Borago). No one spoke English but we managed! Had great spagetti putanesca (anchovies) and orchetti with ragu sauce (both shared of course) and the house red wine. All wonderful and out the door for 20 euro. Then we had about a 10 minute discussion with the restaurant staff using Sue's limited Italian and their non-English.
Later in the day we had a 3 hour guided tour (Wonders of Turin from Baroque to Chocolate). Wonderful guide whose name escapes both of us. She is an archaeologist so her insight into the history about how Turin developed and why it is considered the Italian Paris was so very interesting.
We also visited the cafe where the bicerin was created (a wonderful drink of 3 layers of chocolate, coffee and cream). It is sipped unstirred so you get the distinct three tastes that then blend in your mouth. So very good.

After that we were off to a gourmet chocolate shop where they make designer chocolate using only cocoa beans, hazelnuts and brown sugar. OMG! Too bad they don't yet ship to the U.S.
